Rome International Airport chooses DAMM as supplier for mission-critical communication

DAMM has through their authorised System Partner in Italy, GEG Telecomunicazioni, been awarded the contract to replace the existing communication system at the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Italy with their TetraFlex® solution. Damm's TetraFlex® infrastructure has been connected with the existing Alitalia Cisco Call Manager platform.

The Sepura terminals were chosen for the project for it's perfectly integration with the legacy radio communication equipment and the VoIP telephony system.
Airports are fast moving, potentially hazardous environments that provide one of the toughest tests for communications systems. TETRA has proven to be an excellent solution, delivering the reliability, security and functionality required in such environments.

TetraFlex® was chosen due to its well known flexibility, comprehensive set of functions and features and its undisputed reliability. Many years dedication of GEG to TetraFlex® as the most innovative Tetra base stations on the market guaranteed the professional and efficient deployment of the system. "The unique design of the TetraFlex®  system made it possible to integrate and commission the system within just 1 day leaving the operation uninterrupted", Mr. Fabrizio Pierro, Project Manager, GEG states. Both the TetraFlex® products and the outstanding reputation of the companies DAMM and GEG were important elements of this strategic choice for the Alitalia operations in the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport.

DAMM has with the supply of TetraFlex® for yet another major European airport further strengthened their position as one of the leading providers of Tetra-solutions for the Air Traffic sector.

Per Skovsund, Director of Systems Business DAMM comments "We are very pleased that TetraFlex® also has been chosen by the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport. After having worked closely together with many clients within the airport traffic segment for years we are proud that TetraFlex® has now become the 1st choice for the European Airports".

Leonardo da Vinci is Italy's largest airport and the first international air gateway of the country with over 35 million passengers served in 2008. Located in Fiumicino, 35 km from Rome's historic city centre, it is also the principal hub for Alitalia, the Italian flagship airline.
