Samsun Light Rail Transport system to deploy DAMM’s TetraFlex®

DAMM has through its Turkish partner ATEL been awarded the contract to supply the TetraFlex® TETRA Infrastructure for the Samsun Light Rail project in Turkey.

With its 21 stations and 16 vehicles, the current project phase stretches over 15,2 km's with the communication infrastructure covered by a 3 site TetraFlex® system with redundancy. The project is over the next 3 years planned to be extended up to 35 km's covered by a 15 sites TetraFlex® system.

TetraFlex® is the technical platform for providing the AVL for trains, voice recording of all radio communication, coordination of three separate communication and operation groups through the dispatcher as well as the switch to the PABX system and GSM network.

The TetraFlex® system was chosen after field tests had proven excellent and high level compliance with the technical requirements. Also the easy installation, switching redundancy and the local support played an important role for the final decision.

The system is going to use Motorola Mobile Radios, Sepura portables and Sepura Gateways, which all are in full compliance with the TetraFlex® system.
