DMR is an open standard for digital radio communications established by the ETSI, first created in 2005.
The protocol is designed to operate inside already existing frequencies with a bandwidth of 12.5kHz that are already used in the analog world.
The principal objective was to create digital systems that were cost accessible and easy to operate. The protocol already offers voice services, data, among other auxiliary services, available in different Tiers.
DMR is still a very young protocol and it hasn’t reached interoperability levels like in other technologies like TETRA.
